Newcastle tech business park announces collaboration with Sintons law firm

A tech business park in Newcastle has announced law firm Sintons as one of its partners, alongside other major global businesses.

TusPark Newcastle has partnered with Newcastle-based Sintons, with the law firm being selected as a specialist organisation which can help support the progress and development of its tenants, all of whom are tech businesses with high-growth potential.

Sintons joins various global brands in being a partner of TusPark Newcastle, which was set up in 2017 and has already invested thousands of pounds in the region’s tech businesses.

Colin Tan, head of TusPark Newcastle, said: “TusPark Newcastle speeds up the expansion of startups and businesses in the North East into China by connecting them to the largest innovation network in China, present in every major city.

“We are excited by the possibility of Sintons, with their expertise in commercial, corporate and intellectual property law, helping our startups.

“Together we will jointly run talks and programmes to make Newcastle and the North East of England a great place to build and grow your company.”

TusPark Newcastle, a co-working space on Newcastle’s Grainger Street, is the first facility of its kind to be established by Tus Holdings in the country.

Tus - an abbreviation of Tsinghua University Science Park - has nearly 200 worldwide presences and is the largest incubator network in China.

The facility in Newcastle, while only operational for a matter of months, has become a well-known name in the region’s tech and wider business community.

Barclays recently announced it will be partnering with TusPark Newcastle to create its Eagle Lab business accelerator scheme there in the near future.

Lucy Cook, a well-known specialist tech lawyer and senior associate at Sintons, alongside corporate solicitor Luke Philpott, are leading the law firm’s relationship with TusPark Newcastle.

Both are lawyers in the tech and wider business community, with Luke recently moving to the North East from a business law firm in Manchester.

“The fact that an organisation of that magnitude has chosen Newcastle as the site of its first business space outside of its native country is a huge endorsement of the work we are doing here in the tech sector, and confirmation we truly are making waves internationally.
