Nathan Smith and Jon Egan, Dacre

Two chartered surveyors have been appointed by Yorkshire’s largest firm of independent surveyors and estate agents.

Nathan Smith and Jon Egan have joined Dacre, Son & Hartley’s survey department, which provides surveys and professional valuations on all sorts of residential properties throughout Yorkshire.

Nathan is a chartered surveyor who trained at Sheffield University before working in Leeds and London, and has recently returned to his roots in Scarborough.

He will be responsible for professional valuations and surveys on the Yorkshire Coast, from Whitby to Bridlington, extending into Ryedale and parts of East Yorkshire.

Director and senior surveyor at Dacre, Son & Hartley, James Wattrus, said: “In addition to Nathan’s wide range of experience, he also has developing practical knowledge, as he is in the middle of extending and restoring his house in Scarborough.”

Jon is also a chartered surveyor, and joined the survey team earlier this year to provide professional valuations between Northallerton, Darlington and into Cleveland.

Jon, who is from Knaresborough, trained at Sheffield University and worked in Leeds before working as a valuer in Australia for five years.

Claire Webb, Advanced Supply Chain Group.

Advanced Supply Chain Group (ASCG) has appointed a new CFO. Claire Webb is joining from Go Outdoors where she has been managing director since June 2017.

Previously, Claire held CFO roles at Go Outdoors and prior to that, Maplin Electronics. Co-founder and current CFO, Glyn Rogan, will retire in November this year having built the business alongside CEO Mike Danby over the past 21 years.

Claire joins ASCG following another year of growth as revenues top £60m, an increase of 24 per cent on the previous year, and the group focuses on international expansion.

Mike Danby, MBE, said: “Glyn has steered the business to success over the past 21 years and I can never thank him enough for his expertise and commitment to our colleagues and customers. The whole business wishes him a really happy retirement.

“As a new chapter for the business begins, we look forward to welcoming Claire Webb. Claire’s track record speaks for itself as she led Go Outdoors to record revenues and EBITDA in her first year as CFO.

“With a focus on growth, creating jobs and retaining talent, Claire’s leadership facilitated the retailer’s expansion and investment plan through its acquisition by JD Sports in 2017.

“We have ambitious growth plans with an increased focus on investing in overseas markets to provide a seamless end-to-end global supply chain solution for our customers.”

Jessica Coates, Yorkshire Mafia

Celebrating 10 years as one of the largest business collaboration groups in the country, the Yorkshire Mafia (YM) has appointed Jessica Coates as marketing and events manager.

With previous experience in marketing, public relations and business development, Newcastle University graduate, Jessica joins the YM as the group continues to look at strategic ways that it can evolve.

Jessica will take responsibility for all marketing campaigns, social media engagement, post-event analysis and sales enquiries, while also looking at ways to enhance the Buy Yorkshire Conference and Leeds Business Week.

Jessica commented: “With such an impressive track record, I am looking forward to the challenge that this new role will give me.

“The group is certainly going through an exciting time at present and I’m pleased that already I have been given the autonomy to make changes that I know will benefit the business.

“When the role became available I knew I had to be a part of this next chapter. Lanie Green, Wakefield Bondholders

Wakefield Bondholders, a not-for-profit membership organisation created to help in the growth and regeneration of the Wakefield district, has welcomed Lanie Green as vice chairperson.

Born in Wakefield, Lanie is creative director of Our Agency which specialises in design and marketing from its base at Nostell Priory; she takes over the role from Graham Howarth, who remains a member of the steering group.

She said: “I am incredibly honoured to be a representative for Bondholders and an ambassador for the Wakefield district.

“I originally joined Bondholders to make a positive difference to our ‘home turf’ and believe that to achieve change we must work together, encourage prosperity and promote Wakefield as a viable place to invest, live and visit.

“I am very much looking forward to bringing these principles to my new role and to keeping the spotlight shining on our district, after all attracting development and investment into our area will ultimately encourage prosperity as a whole and bring advantages to all.”

Andy Cocker, Allied Irish Bank

Allied Irish Bank has appointed the new head of its regional business centre covering South Yorkshire and East Midlands.

Andy Cocker, who will be based in Sheffield and Nottingham, joins AIB (GB) with over 30 years in commercial banking, most recently at Lloyds Banking Group, where he was a relationship director.

His new role will include supporting companies across the South Yorkshire and East Midlands region, particularly businesses operating in the manufacturing, healthcare, hotels & hospitality and professional practice sectors.

Cocker said: “AIB (GB) has a well-deserved reputation for relationship business banking and a genuine appetite for lending. Those qualities really appeal to me, as does the opportunity to work with an established and respected team covering Sheffield and Nottingham.

“The South Yorkshire and East Midlands region is home to a wide range of successful businesses with plenty of opportunity for further growth. I’m looking forward very much to helping them achieve their ambitions, and to getting to know and work alongside the region’s professionals.”

Mary Walker, Andrew Jackson Solicitors

An employment partner at Hull-headquartered Andrew Jackson Solicitors has joined Yorkshire law firm, Gordons.

Mary Walker joins Gordons following eight years at Andrew Jackson. She has more than 20 years of experience, including being made a partner at Gosschalks at just 28-years-old before becoming the firm’s head of employment.

Well-known in the regional employment law market, Mary specialises in corporate support, high-level recruitment and remuneration packages, respondent-based tribunal work and high-worth employee negotiations.

Commenting on her appointment, Mary said: “Gordons is the ideal firm for me to join. It is renowned for its distinct, straightforward approach to providing advice and for the strength of the client relationships it develops. These are principles that I share.

“Gordons’ employment team is highly capable and ambitious, with an excellent client base across the sectors I am experienced in.

Jaedon Green, Leeds Federated Housing Association

Jaedon Green, Leeds Building Society’s director of product and distribution, has been appointed as a non-executive director of Leeds Federated Housing Association.

Leeds Federated owns and manages around 4,000 properties across Leeds, Wakefield and North Yorkshire, as well as providing its customers with other services, such as debt advice.

It provides regional housing capacity through the use of shared ownership and social housing, with plans to almost quadruple the size of its development programme and the number of new homes it releases annually.

Jaedon said: “Leeds Building Society has a long history of supporting affordable housing, so my appointment is another practical example of our commitment to this sector.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the Leeds Federated board as the association continues to deliver on its purpose, providing high quality housing and working with local communities to make neighbourhoods people want to live in.”
