Yorkshire’s Northern Monk prepares for Manchester tap room launch

Yorkshire’s Northern Monk Brew Co is launching a second UK tap room this weekend.

The Leeds-based brewery’s new venture, Northern Monk Refectory MCR, will be located at 10 Tariff Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Spanning two levels, the venue will offer 16 keg lines, four cask lines and three draft cocktails, as well as four classic mixed cocktails and a menu of Northern-inspired small plates.

The expansion follows a crowdfunding campaign in March that saw Northern Monk Brew Co exceed its £500k target in three hours.

The campaign eventually generated £1.5m from 2161 investors.

Founder Russell Bisset said: “It’s been four years since we opened The Refectory in Leeds. In that time, we’ve learnt so much about what makes not just a good beer experience, but a world class beer experience.

“We can’t wait to take the next stage of our journey over the Pennines and into the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.”

He added: “We have big plans, and we can’t wait to share them with you.”

Northern Monk Refectory MCR will open on Saturday (September 29) at 12pm.
