The Cintra Coast to Coast cycle team

We like to ride our bicycles; we like to ride our bikes

Especially when we’re raising money for COCO

Where better to ride them, than across the stunning countryside in the North of England? And what better reason to ride them, than to raise funds for an amazing charity!

So that is just what colleagues from Cintra HR & Payroll Services did.

Teams from the award-winning HR and payroll company took part in the Hadrian’s Wall Cycle Challenge, a 174-mile cycle race along the length of Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage site, raising in excess of £2,500 for COCO in the process.

COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas) is an international children’s charity, based in Newcastle upon Tyne and works with communities in remote regions of the developing world on projects that provide children with access to the education that is essential for a good start in life.

Adding an element of friendly rivalry to the annual fundraising initiative, the participants undertook the challenging cycle ride through stunning scenery and testing terrain in teams of three. Team Twits on Bikes won by the narrowest of margins, holding off stiff competition from Team Coast Busters and previous winners Team Danish Dynamite.

Cintra’s cycle race has raised over £2,500 in vital funds so far, and donations are still pouring in. The proceeds will go towards supporting COCO’s work with communities in remote regions of East Africa, helping young people access the education that can allow them to build successful futures for themselves.

Commenting on the race Cintra CEO, Carsten Staehr said: “What an amazing weekend. The weather was kind to us this year and the scenery simply spectacular. The camaraderie and hospitality we encounter on this annual challenge truly warms my heart, as do the donations that flood in from colleagues, friends and family. In addition, knowing that we are raising much needed funds for one of my favourite charities makes this challenge all the more enjoyable.”

COCO CEO, Lucy Kendall commented: “All of us at COCO are delighted with the efforts of Cintra for organising, recruiting and completing the Hadrian’s Cycle Challenge. This was the first time we tried this route and have heard nothing but great things about the splendour of the views across the beautiful countryside of the North! The funds raised will be used to run the first training workshop for all 9 of our programme managers in East Africa. These men and women will learn to improve their IT and communication skills as well as enhance their personal professional development and in line with Cintra’s values be super happy! Thank you to you all for making happy happen in East Africa!”
