North East brewery goes worldwide!

Tyne Bank Brewery’s award-winning IPA, Silver Dollar is now stocked on P&O Cruises ships worldwide

Tyne Bank Brewery has made a name for itself in the North East since first opening in 2011. And now the brewery, led by local woman Julia Austin, extends its market with a new contract to supply its beers to cruise ship passengers around the world. The partnership with P&O Cruises began in 2016, when Silver Dollar was contracted to be stocked on the cruise operator’s Britannia ship. The brewery’s flagship pale ale was loved by holiday-makers so much, that their contract was renewed for 2017. And now, in a further strengthening of the two brands’ relationship, the contract for Silver Dollar has been extended to include all seven of P&O Cruises’ fleet, which travel some 100,000 miles around the world every year. Julia Austin, owner of Tyne Bank Brewery, said: “We’re very excited at the prospect of Silver Dollar being available worldwide! Our relationship with P&O Cruises began in 2016, when they welcomed Silver Dollar on board Britannia; to think that our contract has now been extended worldwide is testament to the quality not only of Silver Dollar, but of the brewery and the brand!”

Paul Ludlow, senior vice president of P&O Cruises, said:

“Silver Dollar beer is part of our Great British Beer Menu and is extremely popular with guests on our flagship Britannia. We are delighted to have the North East represented by Tyne Bank Brewery.”

A well-recognised name, P&O Cruises cover destinations as far flung as Australia, Hawaii, and the USA, where Austin’s inspiration for the brewery was born some 10 years ago. Explains Austin: “My idea to open a brewery began many years ago, when I experienced the magic of the craft beer scene on the West Coast of America. It’s wonderful to think that Tyne Bank Brewery has come full-circle and is now available to try in the same corner of the world that the business idea began to brew.”
