NE business among UK’s best

An expanding North East energy, engineering and industrial infrastructure business has broken into a league table of the UK’s top performing firms.

The Stockton based px group is placed 235th in the list of 250 British, private mid-market growth companies with the most impressive sales.

The listing comes as a result of sales increasing from around £80 million to £136 million and profits more than doubling to just under £5 million over a three year period.

Ahead of the publication of the 14th annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 this weekend, px CEO, Mark Kenrick, said: “It is tremendous to have received this recognition for all of the hard work put in by everyone at px and for the support we have received from our shareholders BWE (see editors notes at end).

“We have enjoyed significant growth over recent years as we have expanded and diversified our business, all of which provides us with firm foundations on which to build further growth.”

The px group operates major gas processing plants in Scotland and on Teesside; gas pipeline operations in the North Sea; power generating operations on Teesside, in Cumbria, Lincolnshire and in Wales.

It also owns and provides support services to Partners at Saltend Chemical Park in Hull and is also supplying owner’s engineering (OE) and project management services on the construction of the world’s largest, new build, biomass combined heat and power (CHP) station at Teesport.

In addition, an energy trading division – E24 – manages energy buying and selling on behalf of clients, as well as services relating to industry ICT and administrative activities.
