Leeds conveyancing firm raises more than £15K for Simon on the Streets

A Leeds-based conveyancing business has raised £15,894 for a local homelessness charity in the last twelve months.

Enact Conveyancing announced Simon on the Streets as its charity of the year in early 2018. Since then, the firm has organised numerous fundraising events to support the organisation, including a bric-a-brac sale, a Great British Bake Off-themed event and also took part in the gruelling TrekFest challenge.

Founded in 2000, Enact Conveyancing has provided conveyancing services to more than 1.2 million customers across the UK. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the First American Financial Corporation; a leading provider of title insurance, settlement services and risk solutions to the real estate and mortgage industries.

Simon on the Streets was chosen as the company’s charity of the year after an employee vote.

Simon on the Streets is an independent charity operating in West Yorkshire. The charity supports rough sleepers in Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield. Funding is provided through the generosity of the public and corporate supporters like Enact.

Managing director at Enact Conveyancing, Ben Carroll commented:

“We’re committed to making a difference in the communities where we live and work. Homelessness is a massive issue in Leeds and, being a city centre business, our teams see the effects of it every day. We’ve worked closely with Simon on the Streets over the last year and we’re proud to help raise funds in support of their efforts to assist people who cannot access mainstream services.”

Fahad Khan, development manager at Simon on the Streets added:

“We cannot thank Enact enough for the help they have given us over the last year; it has enabled us to continue providing emotional and practical support to those who need it. Our role as a charity is to tackle the behavioural issues and mental illnesses that result in homelessness and we would not be able to do this without the fantastic corporate support we receive locally.”
