Connecting coaches: ILM, part of the City & Guilds Group, announces new collaboration with European Mentoring and Coaching Council UK

ILM, the UK’s leading specialist leadership organisation is working with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council UK (EMCC UK) to provide its newly qualified learners with access to membership of the Council as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the professionalisation of coaching and mentoring in the UK.

ILM provides coaching and mentoring qualifications for every career stage, from team leaders to executives and HR professionals, and is the only organisation in the UK that combines the practical application of professional competency with the rigour of regulated qualifications.

The collaboration offers ILM learners membership of EMCC UK, a not-for-profit mentoring and coaching organisation with more than 5000 members in 61 countries. ILM learners will have access to the membership of the Council at a discounted price, to up-to-date guidance, thought leading support via webinars and documents including competency frameworks as well as a range of free resources including access to the International Journal, free e-books, discounted publications and research papers.

EMCC UK aims to develop, promote and set the expectation of best practice in mentoring, coaching and supervision around the world. People who have completed an ILM coaching qualification will have the opportunity to build a network with other coaches and mentors by joining regional and special interest groups, or through volunteering opportunities.

The collaboration comes at a time of increasing interest in the coaching sector. Research from City & Guilds Group in 2018 highlighted the benefits of coaching for business – such as improved confidence, performance and productivity among staff – as they adapt to the future world of work. 84% of workers said that coaching should be part of every business’s management and development programme.
