Trio of promotions in Shakespeare Martineau’s East Midlands real estate team
Law firm, Shakespeare Martineau, has announced a number of senior promotions within its East Midlands real estate team. Brendan Walsh, who has been a partner in the firm for 6 years, will be head of the East Midlands team, supported by Louise Ingram and Peter Dilks, head of the teams in Leicester and Nottingham respectively.
Walsh is ranked as one of a handful of leading real estate lawyers in the region and the only one to be nominated for Real Estate individual of the year by leading legal directory, the Legal 500. He is an expert in residential and commercial development, strategic land, student and senior living, and the private rental sector (PRS). Ingram works with a broad range of clients to bring forward strategic land schemes and Dilks specialises in commercial and residential development, with a particular focus on the energy sector, specifically renewables and flexible energy generation.
Speaking of his new role, Brendan Walsh said: “It’s an exciting time for East Midlands real estate, with opportunities in the region being recognised by developers and investors on a national and international stage. The hubs of Nottingham and Leicester are ripe with excellent commercial and residential development opportunities and there is a real appetite for ambitious schemes which will continue promoting the region’s reputation as an excellent place to live, work and do business.”
The promotions come at a time where real estate is a keen focus for the firm, with the Nottingham and Leicester offices being involved in a range of high-profile projects, such as the New Lubbesthorpe settlement, Leicester’s strategic waterside regeneration scheme, the Fosse Retail Park extension and Nottingham’s east side regeneration.
Brendan Walsh continues: “We are lucky to be involved with a large number of innovative projects and the East Midlands team is working at the heart of the region’s fast-paced real estate scene. From large multi-use schemes and builds in the PRS to new hotels and housing developments, the variety of work out there is huge.
“The real estate team as a whole is full of talented and driven individuals, all with client service firmly at the heart of everything they do. Supported by Louise and Peter and other highly-regarded partners such as regeneration specialist, Martin Jones and Vic Bovington, who focuses on real estate finance and healthcare, we have a very strong leadership team to further grow the firm’s East Midlands real estate offering in the coming years.”
