Leeds development site sold to affordable housing provider
A 2.6 acre development site south west of Leeds has been sold to social housing provider Stonewater with consent for 32 new homes.
Acting on behalf of the Sir Robert Ogden Group, Cushman & Wakefield sold the development to the national housing provider, following its proposal to use the site for a 100 per cent affordable housing scheme comprised of 32 residential properties.
Phil Roebuck, partner and head of residential development at Cushman & Wakefield explained: “We are very pleased to have agreed a sale which will enable reuse of this well-located brownfield site to deliver much needed affordable housing.”
Situated off Field Head Lane in Birstall, the brownfield site comprises a back filled former railway cutting and is less than half a mile from the centre of the village, close to local amenities.
Stonewater regional development manager Martin Fox commented: “We are thrilled to complete on this excellent site and continue our ambitious plans delivering affordable housing in the district.
He added: “Stonewater, a nationwide housing association with 1,700 properties in Yorkshire, have an ambitious house-building programme aiming to build 1,000 new homes per year across the country.”
