Brown Turner Ross raise four figure sum for cancer charity CLIC Sargent
Merseyside solicitors, Brown Turner Ross, have raised over £2,000 in much needed funds for national cancer charity CLIC Sargent. Over 80 people attended the law firm’s fundraising dinner at Southport’s Auberge Brasserie last week, with all of the proceeds being donated to the company’s official charity for 2019.
As the first event in the North West-based law firm’s new partnership with CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children and young people’s cancer charity, the guests were treated to a three-course dinner and night of entertainment at the top Southport restaurant. The firm also organised a raffle prize draw that boosted the donations by £775.
Kendra McKinney, director and solicitor at Brown Turner Ross solicitors, said:
“To kickstart our partnership with CLIC Sargent with such a successful evening was fantastic. The dinner was a lot of fun and we would like to thank each and every person that joined us and donated on the night.
“It is unthinkable that so many young people are dealing with cancer right now and CLIC Sargent do incredible work to help not only the patients but their families as well. We hope the money raised from this first event will support their work and our partnership will develop further in the coming months.”
The raffle draw on the night included gifts from local organisations including Red Star Brewery, Southport clothes store Muse, Christopher Maerevoet Hair & Beauty, Liverpool Everyman Theatre, Dorothy Mae salon, MOMO clothing boutique and chef Aiden Byrne’s, Restaurant MCR.
In 2018, CLIC Sargent supported over 800 families in the North West. The charity support young cancer patients and their families with emotional support and advice as well as financial giving. Last year alone CLIC Sargent gifted £128,946 to help families in the region with extra costs that can accumulate when a child is being treated for cancer.
Sophie Meadows, fundraising engagement manager for Merseyside and North Wales at CLIC Sargent, said:
“We were blown away by all of the donations raised at the dinner and we are so thankful to Brown Turner Ross for all of their support so far. The money that they have donated will certainly help in our fight against cancer and we are excited to see our partnership with the firm strengthen.
“There are so many young people fighting cancer on a daily basis, not just in the North West but across the UK and we will do everything in our power to help them win the battle.”
