Yorkshire family builders’ merchant acquired by national chain
Family business K.F. Supplies has been purchased by independent merchant chain Huws Gray for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Market Weighton, the company has operated for over 30 years offering building and DIY supplies to both members of the public and tradesmen.
The purchase will be the latest addition to Huws Gray’s branch network, with 60 centres across England and Wales.
K.F. Supplies founding director Jean Freeman explained: “It was important to us for the business to continue successfully supporting our customers in East Yorkshire, and for our dedicated and hardworking team to become part of a well-respected organisation which can offer them enhanced career prospects.
“Huws Gray is a good cultural fit and was therefore the right choice to purchase the business and continue its growth and success.”
The sale was supported by Stuart Jobbins and Andrew Rose of local accountancy firm Murray Harcourt, who advised the family throughout the process.
Murray Harcourt corporate finance partner Andrew Rose said, “When the family had decided it was time to move on it was important we took the time to really understand the business so we could identify the perfect fit for them.
“K.F. Supplies was an attractive and successful business and they wanted to ensure that their legacy in the region lived on.”
