North East business launches to take market share of ‘staycation’ sector

A Whitley Bay-based caravan repair business has officially launched thanks to support from Business Northumberland.

Northern Caravan Specialists (NCS) was set up by caravan owners Ian Potter, Chris Potter and Andy Cross after they identified a growing demand for “friendly, approachable bespoke” services and the increasing popularity of ‘staycations’.

Specialising in the maintenance and repair of caravans and motorhomes as well as horse boxes, the firm was supported by local enterprise service Business Northumberland to set out goals and develop a growth plan ahead of the launch.

Match funded by the England European Regional Development Fund and Advance Northumberland, the initiative aims to help businesses in the region to develop and enables access to a range of support.

NCS company secretary Julie Potter, who worked closely with the initiative in the lead up to the company launch, commented: “Business Northumberland have been instrumental in helping NCS to take the venture forward.

She added: “It has given my confidence a boost to spend time with like-minded people and make me realise I’m not alone!”
