The Marketing Centre Further Expands Across Home Counties

The Marketing Centre is rapidly expanding across the Home Counties with its latest appointees, Alan Jones and Thom Poole.

With Brian Hardie leading the regional team, Thom and Alan will be supporting local businesses who are seeking access to professional, experienced marketing advice through their roles as part-time marketing directors

The Marketing Centre, an eight-year old business that has pioneered the concept of part-time marketing directors, has a team of 85+ part-time marketing directors covering nine regions across England and Wales. There is growing demand for the service, which was founded in response to the increasing number of SME’s looking to invest in marketing, but who were unable to budget for the creation of a full-time position.

Thom is an experienced digital international marketer with over 30 years’ experience in a wide variety of sectors – B2B and B2C. Originally a Cost & Management accountant, he combines analytical rigour with creative flair to deliver meaningful, customer-centric results. During his career he has written over 50 books and led marketing departments and initiatives for companies as diverse as Hilti, Black & Decker, O2, Google and eBay. For last 14 years he has worked with a range of companies from small start-ups to large multinationals.

Alan combines marketing with more general commercial skills, and has a varied career both in the UK and internationally. With a background firmly established in the retail sector (trade marketing, property / destination marketing), he has an acute sense of the importance of clear strategy and effective execution to deliver meaningful top- and bottom-line results. He has worked for established brands such as Sega, international property businesses such as Lendlease but has also experienced the different challenges of SMEs in retail, electronics and computer hardware distribution. He is able to apply sound strategic thinking regardless of the size of budget and seeks to leverage cross functional skills within businesses to amplify marketing results
