South Shields' Vic Young Ltd announces first electric vehicle fleet across UK and Europe
Today (June 12), Vic Young (South Shields) Ltd, has revealed the production of its first fleet of electric commercial vehicles in the UK and Europe.
Founded 40 years ago by owner and chairman/managing director Vic Young, the company specialises in the development of electric vehicles, commercial and private.
Led by the expertise of engineer and founder Vic Young, the company has retained its base in South Shields. Young is a leading expert in electric vehicle development and is proud to be leading the way in the NE, UK and Europe from their North East site.
Vic Young said: “The clock is ticking for everybody on emissions. Whether you like it or not, the way forward is electric and we have developed a unique, affordable alternative.
“We are very proud to have developed the first electric vehicles of this kind in the NE, UK, and Europe, but more important this is incredibly important for our planet.
“Everyone has a responsibility for the environment and the effect of carbon emissions on both our current and future generations.”
In full production after years of development, the company has orders on the books from the North East and across the UK, including fleets of ambulances, wheelchair access taxis, box vans and more.
Vic added: “Because we have developed this on site, we can adapt existing vehicles and come up with bespoke solutions. This will save the government and the public hundreds of thousands of pounds, it’s simply a no-brainer.”
Young will oversee production of the new fleet of vehicles as well as launching the first affordable family SUV electric MG this September.
