New Website for The Auckland Project Visitor Destination
The Auckland Project has launched a new website, inviting visitors to step into its visitor destination in Bishop Auckland.
The site, designed by Newcastle-based design agency Roundhouse Digital combines visitor information with details of the charity’s mission to bring about real change in Bishop Auckland, using art, faith, nature and heritage to create opportunities for local people.
A key feature is the Itinerary Planner which allows for complete personalisation of The Auckland Project experience, depending on a visitor’s interests and length of stay.
In addition, the What’s On section allows the use of filters, allowing both visitors from the town and from further afield to find the events that suit them.
Nick Pugh, Creative Director at Roundhouse Digital, said: “Roundhouse Digital was delighted to be involved in this prestigious project. We were very conscious and respectful of the unique nature and standard of the offering, along with the inspiring vision of The Project itself.”
Built on more than 1,000 years of history, The Auckland Project will offer seven distinct venues in one setting. It centres on the historic Auckland Castle, once the seat of England’s powerful Prince Bishops, and also encompasses three landmark firsts – a Faith Museum, Spanish Gallery and Mining Art Gallery.
The new website has been launched in advance of Auckland Castle reopening to the public in 2019 following a major conservation programme.
To create an effective user experience, the website draws upon a distinct colour palette to differentiate between venues. This draws upon the The Auckland Project’s visual identity created in 2017 by Siegel+Gale in collaboration with AMV BBDO.
The website design has also been informed by the destination’s historically rich past, whilst also reflecting The Project’s contemporary architecture and modern outlook.
Ann Cooper, Director of Marketing and Communications at The Auckland Project, said: “Like The Auckland Project itself, the visual identity created by Siegel+Gale in collaboration with AMV BBDO is a balance between our heritage and forward-thinking approach.
“It allows for both consistency and flexibility as The Auckland Project visitor destination develops, and has now been brought to life through our new website by Roundhouse Digital.”
