intu reveals plans for over 1,000 new homes in ‘community living’ development
Retail and leisure specialist intu has unveiled plans to create a residential development with 1,000 new homes in Essex.
Located at the south end of intu Lakeside, the development will provide 1,000 new rental homes, aiming to create a ‘community living’ destination.
In addition to the new homes, the development is set to include lifestyle facilities, public and private open spaces, lakeside views, and a range of landscaping and design features integrated with the existing complex.
The news of the residential plans follows the firm’s £72m leisure-led investment into the Lakeside site, as well as a recent influx of new retailers, restaurant chains and a food hall concept to the growing complex.
Martin Breeden, development director at intu, commented: “This new community will be the next phase of major development of our flagship locations.
“Our aim is to create something very special, that will sit alongside an established and thriving destination where we have already invested £72m in a fantastic new leisure development.”
“What we are sharing is an early view of an exciting opportunity for individuals, friends, couples and families to rent modern homes that suit their lives and lifestyles, including excellent connectivity to public transport. For us, it’s a vision to build a place for people to live, play, shop and work.”
