Job vacancies up 15% across the North West

Permanent professional vacancies increased 15% across the North West year-on-year in June 2019. That is according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

Demand for legal professionals in the North West increased by 31% during the same period, according to the data, provided by recruitment software firm, Innovantage. Growth was also significant in the science & technology sector, where demand rose by 23%.

Commenting on the data, Moya Rylands, Regional Director at APSCo said:

“I’m pleased to see that hiring activity remains strong in the North West. it’s certainly no surprise that demand for legal professionals is particularly high, as the trend of northshoring has continued to drive growth. For example, Freshfields opened a new office in Manchester’s Arndale Centre. It started with only 12 legal support assistants, but now the firm’s new offices at One New Bailey in Salford has over 700 staff with 100 of them in legal services.”

“We’re also fortunate to have a rich science & technology talent pool, which explains why demand is soaring for professionals in the industry. The new Bruntwood ScieTech centre, which is the UK’s largest property portfolio dedicated to driving growth in the sector, is certainly a big contributing factor to the high number of vacancies.”
