Cramlington packaging service celebrates office move following retail giant wins

Inspection and rework specialists MCR Services has moved into larger premises after securing contracts with retail giants Argos and Sainsbury’s.

The Cramlington-based business has also seen an increase in enquiries for its services, varying from quality-control inspection to sortation, labelling and packing, reworking and preparing products for distribution.

As a result, MCR Services - a sister company to Moody Logistics & Storage - has moved into a larger 3,700 sq ft unit which allows staff to work simultaneously on multiple orders, increasing both efficiency and productivity.

Caroline Crawford, managing director, said: “MCR Services’ move into this much larger unit reflects its success in attracting new business, securing contracts with some of the biggest names in UK retail.

“The new premises provide much greater flexibility which has increased efficiency and productivity, allowing the company to expand its customer base.

“More importantly, it provides scope to accommodate more staff as part of the strategic plans to grow the business.”

MCR Services is said to be one of the ‘few’ companies in the region to provide a repackaging service to meet client specifications. The company has also invested in a new shrink-wrapping machine aiming to accommodate larger scale projects.

Another element is the swatch service and swatch book making service which targets bespoke smaller quantity requirements to allow customers to showcase their products.
