£55m advanced manufacturing park could bring 1,000 jobs to the Tees Valley

A £55m manufacturing park in the Tees Valley is set to create up to 1,000 jobs.

The 11-hectare site is being transformed into an advanced manufacturing park- said to be addressing the national shortage of accommodation suitable for manufacturers.

Robertson North East is the principal contractor for the project.

Garry Hope, regional managing director of Robertson North East, said: “The site is really starting to take shape and seeing the first buildings come together is an important milestone in what is a nationally significant project.

“We are proud to be playing our part in creating a game-changing development and adding to the industrial footprint on Teesside.

“We extended TeesAMP’s commitment to appoint local businesses and we’re working with local sub-contractors and suppliers wherever possible.”

The manufacturing park is located in Middlesbrough. TeesAMP will also see the creation of new educational resources centered on the history of the ironworks.

Phase one of TeesAMP will include 180,000 sq ft of space - with buildings ranging in size from 3,000 sq ft to 30,000 sq ft available in early 2020.

Geoff Hogg, of Cleveland Property Investments, who is working with Middlesbrough Council and Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA), added: “TeesAMP is gathering momentum and the high-quality accommodation isn’t the only thing that sets it apart from any other business park or cluster.

“Manufacturers based at TeesAMP will have access to a wrap-around package of business support and a ready supply of highly-skilled workers from local educational institutions such as Middlesbrough College and Teesside University.

“We’re in talks with a number of national and international companies interested in ‘making it in Middlesbrough’ - bringing skilled advanced manufacturing jobs with them.

“TeesAMP truly is the go-to location for the next generation of manufacturers who want great connectivity, world-leading skills and first-class accommodation.”

Grants and support are available for tenants and any businesses looking to make their next move to TeesAMP.
