121 new homes planned for former M&S site in Wood Green
The site of a former Marks and Spencer’s store in Haringey is set to be transformed into a mixed-use development after securing planning permission.
Planning permission has been granted on appeal for the 125,000 sq ft residential-led mixed-use project at 44-46 High Road in Wood Green.
The development comprises 121 residential units ranging from three storey townhouses located on Bury Road to one, two and three bed units across two nine storey towers.
In addition, the project, designed by architecture firm Fourfoursixsix, will feature 16,000 sq ft of new retail space at ground level,
Developed by property specialist PPR Estates, the project forms part of the designated Wood Green Area Action Plan, part of the Haringey Local Plan to deliver quality homes, an improved retail environment and increased jobs in the area.
Working alongside planning consultancy DP9, structural and civil engineering firm ICIS Design, mechanical and electrical engineering specialist Silcock Dawson and Exterior Architecture, Fourfoursixsix hopes that the project will revitalise the vacant space.
Daniel Welham, director at Fourfoursixsix, commented: “This positive result will facilitate the delivery of a diverse range of high quality housing and commercial space, breathing new life into this underutilised site, in line with Haringey’s Local Plan.”
