ITL supports Schools into Work programme
ITL North East Limited, a Gateshead based interpretation company specialising in providing a comprehensive range of interpreting and translation services for over 250 languages, has joined forces with North Tyneside Council’s Schools into Work Programme, in a bid to support young people, prepare them for work and raise awareness of educational and employment opportunities.
ITL’s involvement in the programme is part of its social value initiative, which aims to support the development of young people across the region, helping them to get the skills they need to contribute to society and fulfil their career goals.
On 27th June 2019, ITL North East Limited attended St George High School in North Tyneside in order to take part in their “Decades day”. The event, which was a taster day for Year 8 pupils, was designed to broaden and raise their awareness of career opportunities within organisations and sectors across the region.
Grace Tia Bon Bon, company director said: “It was a pleasure to be involved in the Schools into Work Programme through North Tyneside Council. It was a great opportunity for us to actively engage with the pupils in order to cultivate an interest in languages.
“After all, there is currently a shortage of qualified linguists in the industry so it was important to us to encourage all students, regardless of their background, to continue to develop their language skills in order to help the community in the future.”
On the day, Grace gave a presentation to the students to talk them through the career progression of an interpreter and the potential financial benefits.
Grace added: “We endeavour to support the development of young people in the region and to aid them in getting the necessary skills and experience in order to contribute to society. Throughout the summer we will be involved in a number of local projects including development days, school visits and attending employment fairs. We hope to see you soon at one of these exciting events!”
ITL’s social value initiative is just one of the ways that this forward thinking company is continuing to raise awareness of the many opportunities that come hand in hand with learning a new language.
