Work underway on £5m ‘transformational’ residential development in Leeds
Work is underway on transforming a former Leeds office building in Leeds into a residential development.
Development company Avenir Works has begun work on converting 1960s office block Greatminster House in Horsforth into a 21-apartment scheme, with a gross development value of approximately £5m.
Designed by Leeds based Brewster Bye Architects, the scheme comprises 21 one and two bedroom apartments, scheduled to be released for sale in January 2020.
Aimar Natheer, from Avenir Works, commented: “We’re delighted to be on site, transforming this dated 1960s office building into a fantastic selection of contemporary apartments in a very desirable location.
“In recent years we have established a strong reputation for creating high quality, sought-after homes and this scheme will be a great addition to our extensive portfolio of residential developments, both in Leeds and throughout the UK.”
Chris Austin, managing director at Brewster Bye Architects, added: “Greatminster House is in a prominent location in Horsforth, but it looked ugly and unloved. This is especially true when you look at all the investment and development work that has gone on around it in recent years.
“As well as giving the property a bright new future, a key feature of this development will see the building’s appearance significantly improved.
“Once complete there’s no doubt it will be a genuine asset for Horsforth that integrates seamlessly into the local Conservation Area.”
