Sheffield hospitality tech firm to create jobs with £500k investment

A Sheffield-based firm specialising in technology for the hospitality industry has secured £500k from NPIF - Mercia Equity Finance.

Airship Services has secured the investment, which is managed by Mercia and is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, to develop its technology and create eight new jobs.

Founded in 2002, Airship Services is led by Dan Brookman, who with over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry set up the business with technology specialist Rob Marcer.

Its first product, Airship, is already used by over 50 customers across more than 600 locations including brands like Leon, Turtle Bay, Revolution, Hydes Brewery, Wells & Co and The Alchemist.

The company’s second product, Toggle, launched in October last year and is live in over 350 locations.

Dan Brookman, Airship Services’ CEO, commented: “Both our platforms have enjoyed a surge in new customers and after the success of Airship, Toggle is being well received in the market.

“We are delighted with this investment and are looking forward to building on the growth of the past year.”

As a result of the investment, the firm plans to hire additional developers, sales and customer service staff as well as further developing its platforms.

Mark Wilcockson, senior manager at British Business Bank, added: “NPIF continues to provide vital funding to Northern businesses across the region.

“We are pleased to continue this support, and are proud to work in partnership with Mercia and our other appointed fund managers to make a real impact on business communities, creating jobs and strengthening regional economies to unlock the North’s potential.”
