North East and Yorkshire stations to benefit from £2.6m Grand Central investment
Train operator Grand Central has announced new details of a £2.6m investment into stations across the North East and Yorkshire.
Redevelopments are now underway at stations along Grand Central’s North East and West Riding routes, including Sunderland, Hartlepool, Eaglescliffe, Thirsk, Bradford Interchange, Brighouse, Mirfield and Wakefield Kirkgate stations.
Cosmetic refreshes, new lounges, workstations and charging facilities are among some of the improvements set to be made at the stations, which are due to be completed in early 2020.
The news follows the completion of Grand Central’s £9m refurbishment programme to upgrade its Adelante fleet.
Sean English, chief operating officer at Grand Central, commented: “We are delighted to announce further details of this phase of our major investment programme to improve the station facilities along our routes.
“It reinforces our commitment to investing in the communities we serve and enhancing facilities for the benefit of current and future customers.
“We are looking forward to the completion of the projects and can’t wait for people passing through the stations to experience the benefits for themselves and come back time and time again.”
