North west law firms join forces: Primas Law and Freeman Fisher announce merger

Boutique north west law firm Primas Law has announced it is to merge with renowned and highly regarded Manchester-based commercial firm Freeman Fisher.

The merger was finalised in November and the two teams, which have offices based in Cheshire, Manchester and London, began as Primas Freeman Fisher Limited, trading as “Primas” with effect from Monday, 2 December 2019.

The deal was agreed between Primas Law’s owners Adam Kerr and Simon Baxter and Gary Black and Alex Megaw, the founding partners of Freeman Fisher.

“Both firms are growing and successful in their own right,” said Adam Kerr after signing the deal. “But we’re also both highly ambitious and driven to do more for our clients and feel that this is the right time to strategically expand.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for two businesses that share similar cultures and values centred around delivering the very best for its clients. We have two amazing teams – soon to be one – that we know will take this opportunity to do things bigger and better than ever. It’s a very exciting time for us all.”

“When I met Adam and Simon and we spoke about joining forces I knew it was the right progression for the firm Alex and I started together” added Gary Black. “This wasn’t a necessity for either firm, but it felt like a unique opportunity to create something ambitious and special together. We feel that the move certainly positions us for a brighter collective future as an enlarged business.”

Adam Kerr will continue as Managing Partner in the merged firm with Simon Baxter remaining as head of the firm’s impressive Real Estate team and Gary Black carrying on his role as head of the firm’s nine-strong Corporate and Commercial team.

The new firm will continue to provide a wide range of legal services including Corporate and Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Real Estate, Banking and Finance and Employment law for a growing number of UK clients.
