Thirteen announces South Bank regeneration project
Thirteen has unveiled plans for an exciting project it is working on with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to provide new housing and help improve the Redcar Road area of South Bank with a bungalow development scheme.
Residents were invited to meet representatives from Thirteen at the South Bank Christmas Market to learn more about proposals to build 28 two bed bungalows for affordable rent, which will complement the design from the popular South Bank Eco Village.
They were also asked for their views on the project, and what would make a positive difference to the area and these will help shape the planning application before it is submitted to Redcar & Cleveland Council.
Louise McDonald, Thirteen’s senior regeneration manager, said: “This was a great opportunity for people to come along and see the proposals for this exciting new development and we felt there was overwhelmingly positive support from those residents who we spoke to. We got lots of feedback that will help shape the final version of our planning application.
“Plus, it was lovely to talk to such passionate residents who obviously love their area and were happy to share their wonderful memories with us, whilst embracing the proposed new homes.”
Richard Baker, Redcar & Cleveland Place Marketing Manager, said: “The work of the Redcar & Cleveland Ambassador programme is about positively marketing Redcar & Cleveland as a great place to live, enjoy and do business. As part of this, we want to promote a good and varied housing offer to existing and potential new residents of the borough; this proposed development by Thirteen, which will be subject to the necessary planning approvals, would potentially provide a great addition to Redcar and Cleveland’s housing stock, particularly in meeting the needs of our ageing population and supporting people to live independently.”
Ian Wardle, Thirteen’s chief executive, added: “South Bank has an amazing community spirit and we’re really looking forward to working with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and partners on potentially developing and delivering these great bungalows.”
