Currently situated in the Elephant & Castle shopping centre, Miko’s will move into a 1,200 sq ft space at 17 Sayer Street, while Bayroot is set to open a 620 sq ft restaurant at 15A Sayer Street.

Lenin Erazo, founder of Miko’s, said: “Our food has proven hugely popular with visitors to Elephant & Castle; we bring the best tastes of Ecuador and have built-up loyalty through our authenticity.

“We were keen to stay within this local community as it’s where we founded the restaurant, so we are delighted with the new restaurant space in Elephant Park, and the opportunity Lendlease has provided to us.”

Yasser Elmoussa, founder of Bayroot, said: “Elephant Park is quickly becoming a destination for world flavours, and our traditional Lebanese dishes will sit perfectly amongst the other restaurants here.

“We are well-known in Elephant & Castle – we have been just down the road in Camberwell for over five years and cannot wait to bring some Middle Eastern spice to Elephant Park.”

Due to open in spring 2020, the new restaurants and will join an line-up of international cuisine at Elephant Park including Ethiopian and vegan eatery Beza, Japanese tonkotsu specialist Koi Ramen Bar and Caribbean restaurant Tasty Jerk.

Guy Thomas, head of retail at Lendlease, added: “Having local businesses at Elephant Park has always been one of our key objectives so we’re very pleased that Miko’s will be opening their new premises with us, and that Bayroot’s second branch in the area will bring their superb brand of Middle Eastern cuisine.”
