Child health app to replace red book secures £550k investment
An app aiming to ‘digitally empower’ parents to better monitor their children’s health has secured over half a million pounds of investment.
Nurturey, a platform designed to become the first nationwide digital ‘red book’, has achieved acclaim and financial support from the owners and directors of Day Lewis Plc, one of the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chains.
Thousands of pregnant mothers and parents have already used Nurturey to replace the traditional, printed red book provided to track the health progress and milestones of children aged 0-13.
The app’s owners will now take steps to achieve a completed integration of the platform with NHS systems, providing parents with access to their children’s health information held by GPs, book immunisation appointments and be alerted to check-ups.
Tushar Srivastava, founder and CEO of Nurturey, said: “We aim to address the wider challenge of falling vaccination rates, child obesity and other important child health issues in the UK.
“Nurturey algorithmically connects parents to trusted NHS information at the relevant stage of the child’s growth and empowers parents with digital tools to systematically manage all important health events and receive alerts.”
Sam Patel, executive director at Day Lewis, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Team Nurturey. As parents ourselves, we really connect with the digital redbook concept to make parents’ lives easier and to improve health outcomes for children.
“We’re thrilled to be part of Nurturey’s journey and look forward to seeing the positive impact Nurturey will have on the lives of children.”
