Shulmans raises over £10,000 for local charity Leeds Mind

Leeds-based top 200 corporate law firm, Shulmans LLP, has announced that it has raised more than £10,000 for Leeds Mind.

Shulmans colleagues selected Leeds Mind as its charity of the year in 2019. During the year, the firm organised a series of fundraising initiatives, including a team taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge and a sky dive, alongside regular activities as part of Shulmans’ ongoing corporate social responsibility programme – with activities such as ‘The Great Shulmans Bake Off’, monthly dress down days and the annual boys vs girls netball match. The firm also supported national and regional awareness days, including Time to Talk Day and Multicoloured Monday.

Leeds Mind is an independent charity which delivers a wide range of services across the Leeds area. Founded in 1972, it aims to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives. Elizabeth Smitten, HR Assistant at Shulmans said: “We recognise the importance of CSR and the impact it has both within our business and the wider community. Our colleagues are committed to supporting the Yorkshire region and are actively involved in charitable work. We are proud to have supported the fantastic work of Leeds Mind.”

Charli Brunning, Corporate Fundraising Officer at Leeds Mind said: “We are extremely grateful for Shulmans’ support throughout the last year. The incredible amount of money raised will enable us to continue our essential work in Leeds – including counselling, group therapy, social support, housing and employment support and mental health training. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of the fundraising activities and are appreciative of the time and effort that the team have dedicated to the cause.”

Whilst Leeds Mind and Shulmans’ charity partnership has now come to an end, the two organisations will continue to work together to support colleague wellbeing going forward.

Shulmans has announced Leeds Cares as its charity of the year for 2020. As the official charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals, the charity supports NHS staff to deliver the best care for patients and their families, by raising funds for equipment, services, education and research.
