Clarion achieves three star accreditation in national ‘Best Companies to Work For’ scheme
Leeds law firm Clarion has achieved a three star accreditation as one of the 2020 ‘Best Companies to Work For’ in recognition of the “outstanding levels of engagement” of its 230-strong workforce.
The accolade follows the firm’s participation in the prestigious ‘Best Companies’ scheme which surveys workplace engagement and measures it against the Best Companies Index score in order to celebrate and showcase outstanding employers.
Clarion, which has grown to a turnover of over £17m and has 25 partners, has made attracting and retaining legal talent a key part of its business strategy. The firm has consistently achieved high levels of employee engagement in its internal annual surveys with 93% of colleagues reporting that they are ‘proud to work at Clarion’ in 2019. Last year alone, it recruited 60 people and was recognised in the Behavioural Wealth Awards for its innovative mental health initiatives.
Joint managing partner Roger Hutton said: “People and relationships are at the heart of what we do and we have long recognised that it is only by having a highly skilled and committed team that we can provide our clients with the top class service they deserve. We are extremely proud to have been awarded a three star accreditation in this prestigious national scheme - a particularly impressive achievement for a professional services business.
“As a fast-growing firm, Clarion has a very distinct culture which really appreciates and looks after colleagues, from supporting their training and progression to ensuring we do all we can to nurture their health and wellbeing. This is proving to be a winning formula and it is pleasing to see that as we have grown, we have been able to strengthen colleagues’ commitment to the firm’s vision and values with so many of them developing their careers within the Clarion team.
“While this latest accolade is an important milestone on our journey, we won’t be resting on our laurels – rather it will inspire us to continue to find new ways of ensuring we create an environment where people enjoy coming to work.”
Clarion prides itself on its positive and open culture. From strong internal communications and recognition of hard work and talent to encouraging caring for colleagues, the law firm strives to find ways to promote good mental health. The firm has proved particularly successful in retaining and developing young talent with six of the current partners having completed their training contracts with Clarion.
Best Companies commented: “I would like to congratulate Clarion on achieving a three star accreditation. Best Companies has been acknowledging excellence in the workplace since 2006 when we launched our Michelin style accreditation standard. We are proud to work with organisations like Clarion which focus on their people and as such have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that they’re a best company to work for.”
