First wave of apprentices complete Everkool training programme

Everkool’s first apprenticeship programme intake have completed their training and now the Bootle business is pledging to take on more trainees

Bootle air-conditioning firm Everkool is pledging to take on 10 new apprentices every year after the success of its first-ever apprenticeship programme.

The business took on 10 young people last year who had not previously been in education, employment or training. They are now all qualified engineers for the fast-growing company.

Now, to mark National Apprenticeship Week, Everkool says it intended to recruit 10 new apprentices each year. Company founder Craig Greenwood, said: “Our apprenticeship programme has been a fantastic success and reflects our commitment to providing opportunities to young people as we grow as a company.

“I want to give chances to young people who have grown up in environments similar to mine. I left school without any qualifications and I know first-hand how difficult things can be for young people who aren’t recognised for their academic merit at school. I want to provide those people with the opportunity of a great career and a secure future.

“We’re in a position to do that. As part of National Apprenticeship Week, I am pleased to announce that we will be recruiting ten apprentices every year. Everkool is expanding as a company and our new apprentices will help support our growth. We’ll be recruiting our next wave very soon.”

One of Everkool’s apprentices, Bradley Wiggins, 21, was recruited by Everkool through Liverpool City Council’s ILM (Intermediate Labour Market Job Role) programme. Bradley, said: “Craig and everyone at Everkool has shown plenty of faith in me.

“I am regularly on courses to improve my skills, including recently passing my forklift training course. I feel like I am able to start a career now. I have developed so much both personally and professionally since starting.”
