‘Luxury’ garment manufacturer creates new jobs with five-figure funding

A manufacturer of fashion garments has expanded its team and tripled its turnover with five-figure funding from NatWest.

MAES London, based in Bethnal Green, has secured a £39k funding package from the bank’s business team in order to invest in new machinery and staff.

Founded in 2018 by Diana Kakkar and Joshua Rosario, MAES London has produced garments for a range of designers, including those that showcase at London Fashion Week.

The firm, which offers its clients a range of services focusing on sampling and small production runs, has purchased six industrial sewing machines, an industrial iron and a fuse press as well as hiring new staff to bring its team to 12.

Co-founder Diana explained: “We want to bring manufacturing back to East London by offering designers a fashion-led studio that understands the quality they require, respects their ambition and can help them to achieve their vision.

“East London was renowned for manufacturing and from our base in Bethnal Green, we want to be part of its revival, encouraging people to support local businesses, fair wages and sustainability.

“With the support from NatWest, our recent expansion will allow us to meet increased demand, whether that is fulfilling smaller orders, supporting UK designers or extending our reach globally.”

Luke Pamflett, business growth enabler at NatWest, added: “The continued growth of MAES London is evidence of Diana and Joshua’s expert knowledge of their services and their market.

“NatWest has provided funding and expert advice to help them grow their business and we will continue to support them as they expand further over the coming years.”
