Clarion ranked 8th in Sunday Times ‘Best Small Companies to Work For’ list

After announcing a few weeks ago that it had achieved a three star accreditation in the 2020 ‘Best Companies to Work For’ scheme, Leeds law firm Clarion has been ranked No. 8 in the prestigious Sunday Times list which recognises the 100 companies throughout the UK with the most engaged teams. Clarion is also the highest ranked law firm in the UK and achieved the highest ranking of any company in Yorkshire.

The firm achieved the ranking as a result of the ‘outstanding levels of engagement’ of its 230-strong team who were surveyed and measured against the Best Companies Index score in order to celebrate and showcase outstanding employers.

Head of HR Helen Saunders said: “As the firm has grown, we realised how important it was to retain our vision and values, ensuring that new members of the team embraced our culture and that colleagues continued to feel valued and able to develop their careers with us.

“Attracting and retaining legal talent is at the core of the Clarion ethos - we recognise the vital contribution made by every member of the team in enabling us to provide an outstanding service to clients. This latest achievement is yet another demonstration of the commitment and engagement of the team.”

With a turnover of almost £18m and 25 partners, Clarion has continued to achieve high levels of employee engagement and strong staff retention. It has also implemented a number of initiatives to promote colleagues’ wellbeing and to promote good mental health.

Joint managing partner Roger Hutton adds: “Our unique culture not only plays an important role in helping us to attract new talent as we continue to grow, but is also is one of the many reasons why clients say they enjoy working with us. Our latest recruit is Nina Amthor, who has joined as a HR advisor, reflecting the investment we are making in all areas of the business. We look forward to welcoming many new members to the team throughout 2020 and beyond.”

Best Companies commented: “I would like to congratulate Clarion on achieving a three star accreditation and being named as one of the UK’s Best Companies to Work for. Best Companies has been acknowledging excellence in the workplace since 2006 when we launched our Michelin style accreditation standard. We are proud to work with organisations like Clarion which focus on their people and as such have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that they’re a best company to work for.”
