Newcastle listed building transformed into hospitality space in six-figure refurbishment

A Newcastle-based property specialist has transformed one of the city’s listed buildings into a new hospitality space.

Walton Robinson has converted a former retail space in the Bruce Building on Percy Street into a new café/restaurant.

The 2,253 sq ft unit, which has undergone a refurbishment worth half a million pounds, features a street level café/restaurant space including a ready-installed bar area.

The conversion has also included the installation of air-conditioning, a high quality till system, CCTV network, Wi-Fi and hard-wired charging points and an integrated music system.

Mark Walton, managing director of Walton Robinson, commented: “Newcastle is renowned for its diverse and eclectic leisure and hospitality market and this venue will be a great addition to the city’s vibrant café and restaurant community.

“We have installed the fundamental elements, including kitchen and bar fit outs, to allow a creative operator the chance to focus on their offering and styling.

“I am sure this will be particularly attractive for independent restaurant owners who will be able to serve up something unique for local people and visitors to Newcastle.”
