Plans for 400 new Sunderland homes unveiled
Proposals to develop land into a 400-home development in Sunderland have been revealed by a national housebuilder.
Taylor Wimpey has unveiled plans for the development on a 23 hectares parcel of land in Penshaw.
Adjacent to Herrington Country Park, the site to the north of Chislehurst Road has been identified in Sunderland City Council’s Local Plan as a potential development site, and no longer remains in the Greenbelt.
The housebuilder plans to deliver 400 two, three and four bedroom homes at the development, in addition to creating landscaping, footpaths and cycle links.
As a result of the Covid-19 outbreak, public consultation on the proposals will be carried out digitally with local residents and members of the public.
A spokesperson from Taylor Wimpey commented: “The site is an exciting opportunity to deliver new homes in a sustainable attractive location, taking advantage of the relationship with the Country Park and Penshaw Monument.
“The plans are at an early stage and we are keen to secure the input of the local community to help to shape the development.”
