Housebuilder consolidates team with new appointments and promotions

A regional housebuilder has appointed a new land director in a raft of new appointments and promotions that are helping consolidate the South Coast business Sharon Eckford brings a wealth of experience with her to Persimmon Homes South Coast as she takes on the role of land director. Craig McNeil-Aitken has also been appointed as a new technical manager, while Sara Booth has joined the accounts team. The appointments follow internal promotions that have seen head of sales Graeme Cole become sales director and Guy Gilbert swap his role on site to become contracts manager. Matt Paine, managing director of Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “We have a talented team based in Fareham and we pride ourselves on the training and career opportunities that are available to employees. “We are delighted to welcome Sharon to the team as she brings invaluable experience to the role as land director.” Sharon has worked with Matt on and off throughout her career, which began working for a volume housebuilder as a trainee in the land department. Various promotions and job moves led to her role heading up the land and planning team as Associate Land Director for Bovis Homes before she joined Persimmon. She added: “I have inherited a really strong stable team, and we are eager to continue providing much-needed new build homes in the region. “I have been made very welcome and am looking forward to the challenges ahead. One of the immediate issues is an industry-wide problem of finding a nitrates mitigation solution, especially in this area, and we are working with the local authority and Government bodies to try to find a resolution. “The role of land director has many facets including responding to the challenges presented by the continual changes in the political, economic, planning and regulatory environment that impacts on the industry and particularly at the land buying end of the business, where the ability to predict and forecast is essential. . I enjoy buying sites and being able to continue to deliver the company objectives whilst navigating through these fast-paced shifting sands. I am looking forward to consolidating the department and building on their recent successes.”
