Deep tech firm secures £2.4m additional funding to scale up
A company that specialises in deep technology has secured further funding as part of a multi-million pound investment round.
VividQ has secured an additional £2.4m from new investors FluxUnit - OSRAM Ventures and University of Tokyo Edge Capital.
Fluxunit is the independent venture capital arm of OSRAM, a global photonics company. UTEC is a seed/early-stage technology-focused venture capital firm associated with academic institutions such as The University of Tokyo.
VividQ, which is part of the Sure Valley Ventures (SVV) portfolio of Pires, specialises in 3D holography software, which aims to bring real-time computer generated holography to everyday applications.
Venture capital fund SVV focuses on investing in the software technology sector with a specific focus on augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
This latest investment brings the total raised by VividQ in this funding round to £3.4m, and will enable the company to accelerate the adoption of its software within consumer electronics and scale up the number of integration projects with chipmakers and micro-display manufacturers.
Pires chairman, Peter Redmond commented: “This recent fund raising demonstrates the quality of the companies that Pires has exposure to through its investment in SVV, namely their ability to raise funds in difficult market conditions and from such high quality and knowledgeable investors.”
