European cancer treatment firm expands to UK with Sheffield and London acquisitions
A European private cancer treatment group has expanded into the UK with its acquisition of radiotherapy centres in London and Yorkshire.
Amethyst Radiotherapy, which has 12 radiotherapy centres across six countries, has acquired Medical Equipment Solutions Limited (MESL), which operates the Queen Square Radiosurgery Centre in London and the Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre in Sheffield.
MESL specialises in intracranial radiation treatments using non-invasive stereotactic radiosurgery platform GammaKnife, a method that involves no scalpel or incision.
Amethyst Radiotherapy group CEO, Ludovic Robert, said: “Amethyst Radiotherapy aims to build on the established reputation of Queen Square Radiosurgery Centre, London, and the Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre in Sheffield to provide the best possible, evidence based treatment for patients with previously hard to treat brain lesions.
“Amethyst is rigorously focused on delivering the highest quality of service for patients, working in close partnership with leading NHS Centres of Excellence, neurosurgeons and oncologists as well as private payers and providers across the wider health economy.”
South East law firm Coffin Mew advised Amethyst Radiotherapy on the acquisition, with support from Shipleys and Enumerate.
Dominic Travers, corporate partner at Coffin Mew, added: “We were pleased to have helped Amethyst Radiotherapy with this strategic acquisition and look forward to supporting the company with its growth plans to bring cutting edge treatments to patients throughout the UK.”
