Adam beats the odds to win £1,000 worth of flooring

Odds of over 100 to 1 didn’t prevent Brixham man Adam Malik from walking away with £1,000 worth of flooring following the opening of a new store in Newton Abbot.

Adam took his mother and father-in-law Rose and Tony to Flooring Superstore on the morning it opened on the Kingsteignton Trading Estate.

To mark the opening, the store had placed 150 golden tickets in a bowl offering various discounts off flooring, with only one ticket containing a voucher for £1,000.

Rose and Tony had chosen the flooring they needed for their home in Brixham and as they left, Adam remembered the ticket draw and picked one out. To his surprise, when he opened it, he discovered he had won the top prize.

This means Rose and Tony were then able to buy even more flooring for their home and there was still some left over for Adam and his wife Kim to buy luxury vinyl tile flooring for their own home, which is also in Brixham.

Adam says: “The store had only been open for a few hours, so I was one of the first to pick out a ticket. I couldn’t believe it when I realised I had picked the £1,000 voucher. I have never won anything like that before.”

Winning the £1,000 worth of flooring may well have been in the stars for Adam and Kim.

He explains: “We had previously driven 145 miles to buy flooring for our own house from Flooring Superstore because we were so impressed by what we had seen online, but at that time the nearest store to us was in Swindon.

“So, when we discovered a store was opening in Newton Abbot, we told Rose and Tom that they simply had to buy their flooring from there and they would only need to drive a few miles to get it.

“So perhaps it was fate that we won!”

Flooring Superstore Regional Manager Ian Robinson said: “The odds of finding the £1,000 voucher on the first day of the store opening were very high, so we were amazed when Adam picked it up after just a few hours.

“Then, when we heard how far they had previously travelled to buy flooring from our sister store for their own home just made it even better.

“We couldn’t be happier for them and using most of the money to buy more flooring for Rose and Tom was such a nice gesture.

“The golden ticket promotion was our way of celebrating the opening of a new store in Newton Abbot, which is our first in Devon, and we are delighted with how well it has been received.”
