Yorkshire manufacturer makes five-figure investment into North East site during growth drive

A Yorkshire-headquartered food packaging manufacturer has made a five-figure investment into new equipment at its North East production site as part of its ongoing growth.

PFF Packaging Group, which is based in Keighley, has invested in new extrusion measuring systems on the lines at its 100,000 sq ft production facility in Washington.

Supplied by SBI International, the installations will enable precision gauge control over the width of film used for the manufacture of thermoformed products, including over 20 million units of polypropylene trays produced at the site each month.

PFF, which employs 120 staff across its North East production site and adjacent Innovation Centre as well as a further 120 staff at its Yorkshire headquarters, has continued to operate at its normal capacity and fulfil customers’ orders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

PPF’s group managing director, Kenton Robbins, commented: “PFF’s latest investment demonstrates our commitment to the ongoing growth of the company.

“Being independent means that we’re able to act quickly and decisively on how and where we can improve on our operations to affect continuous service excellence for our customers.

“The project has gone ahead at a time of extreme challenges to the economy due to the Coronavirus outbreak and we are particularly pleased to be able to share some very positive news at this time.”
