Green light for commercial development set to create over 400 jobs
A commercial development in West Yorkshire that is set to create hundreds of new jobs has been given the go-ahead.
Kirklees Council’s planning committee has given the green light for the second phase of the Moor Park 25 development in Mirfield, located close to junction 25 of the M62.
The council is working with developer Caddick Developments to deliver new industrial and logistics space at the industrial site, which is expected to create over 400 jobs and inject £12.5m into the local economy
The first phase of development at the 15.4-acre site has recently completed and a lease signed on a new 72,400 sq ft distribution unit.
Plans for Phase 2 include five further industrial buildings, totalling 180,000 sq ft ranging from 19,500 sq ft to 59,000 sq ft.
Myles Hartley, managing director of Caddick Developments, commented: “By granting approval for Phase 2 of Moor Park 25, Councillors have given the green light for further investment and an estimated £12.5 million boost to the local economy through this development, as well as bringing 400 new jobs to Mirfield.
“Following the successful completion of phase 1, there has been strong interest in the remainder of the site and we are very close to signing up two local businesses who want to expand, which will provide a tremendous boost for the local economy.
“With major road improvement and infrastructure already in place, this is truly an ‘oven ready’ project that can be delivered quickly and we will look to progress phase 2 as soon as possible.”
