Smart meter firm turns up heat with 60 new jobs across North East and Yorkshire
A firm specialising in the installation of smart meters has confirmed plans to create new jobs across the North following a ‘major’ contract win.
Blue Square Utilities has announced the creation of 60 new jobs as part of its plan to support sustained growth into 2021.
The Tyne and Wear-headquartered firm has created positions across the North East and Yorkshire as well as the North West as part of its ongoing expansion.
The news follows the firm being appointed to assist with the roll-out of domestic smart meters to Scottish Power customers across the North East and Yorkshire, with more contracts being negotiated.
Steve Lees, Blue Square Utilities’ CEO said: “After a difficult start to the year, we have recommenced installations of smart meters across the north of England which, in turn, has meant we needed to recruit a significant number of engineers.
“Since July, we’ve welcomed 60 people to the team, and have seen the management team increase by 15 per cent.
“This all feeds into supporting our ambitious growth plans, and a timely delivery for several new contract wins. While there’s still a way to go, we’re hopeful for a busy 2021.”
