Local housebuilders donate £1,000 to Dorset school to support education in confidence-building

Bransgore School in Dorset have said they will be able to continue teaching children vital confidence and self-esteem skills thanks to support from leading housebuilders, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes.

The C of E primary school in Christchurch, near to Barratt and David Wilson’s Quarter Jack Park development, has benefitted from year-long support from the five-star housebuilders, culminating in this latest £1,000 cash donation.

Bransgore School Headteacher, Paul Brown, is delighted with the help received and is very grateful for the collaboration with Barratt, which was arranged through Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes Community Liaison Manager.

Plus, the donation couldn’t have come at a better time. This year, Bransgore lost its Forest Schools status – a scheme that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking to help develop confidence and self-esteem in children.

Paul said: “The £1,000 will help us purchase equipment as well as resource some ground works, to create a space where we can teach forest school’s activities at our own site.

“We will be creating a low ropes course, shelter building space, fire circle and a bridge across a brook to link our playground to a small field we can use for “wild play” with our youngest children. This will form part of a larger scheme to create even more exciting and engaging outdoor areas in our school.”

Paul added: “It has been wonderful working with Anthony over the past year. He took the time to understand the pressures we were facing and he has been to see us many times.

“Whilst the practical support is much appreciated, it very much feels as though someone is working with you and supporting your school community, as the neighbourhood develops and takes shape around us.

“There’s no doubt we have received incredible support and without Barratt and David Wilson Homes we would not be in such a positive position now. It’s great to know that a large developer such as them, invests in the neighbourhood and community relationships in this way. Thank you very much from the team at Bransgore.”

Anthony Dimmick, was thrilled at the response, and said: “As part of our commitment to help the communities we develop in, our relationship with Bransgore has gone from strength to strength. We are very happy to help where we can.”

Barratt Homes offers community support to schools and organisations in the areas where it is building new homes. including the Barratt Homes’ Community Fund, which is a dedicated financial resource that helps to support local causes which improve the quality of life for those living in the region.
