CEO appointed at Renovo Care

Renovo Care Group has appointed experienced health and social care professional Peter Kinsey as its Chief Executive. He officially takes over the role from March 1st 2021. The independent specialist provider of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions including acquired brain injury (ABI) and progressive neurological disorders operates four services: Hollanden Park Hospital in Hildenborough, Kent, Swanborough House in Brighton, Victoria House in Farnborough and the new South Newton hospital near Salisbury. Renovo Care is backed by investment firm Blantyre Capital, which is actively looking for further investments in the healthcare sector to further expand the business and its presence in the space. Peter has over 35 years sector experience, having been Chief Executive at Care Management Group (CMG), a leading provider supporting people with learning disabilities. He managed the successful growth of CMG, which had 11 services rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. CMG was sold to AMP Capital and Peter led the merger of the business with AMP owned Regard Partnership to form Achieve Together, one of the largest learning disability providers in the UK. After leaving Achieve Together, Peter worked as a consultant helping organisations improve their ratings with the Care Quality Commission. For the last six months he has been interim Chief Executive of a care company supporting older people. Prior to joining CMG, Peter was an executive director in the NHS and worked as a local authority strategic commissioning manager. Current Chief Executive Philip Smith is stepping down from the role, having successfully overseen the initial phase of the creation of Renovo Care. His achievements include the acquisition of the Raphael and Glenside hospitals by Renovo Care, building a new and experienced management and governance team, managing the beginning of a significant refurbishment of the estate, managing the re-opening of the South Newton hospital near Salisbury and guiding the services through the most challenging days of the pandemic. Philip Smith said: “My tenure as Chief Executive was meant to be short-term but two years on, I am delighted to be handing the running of the business to Peter. “His experience and skills will ensure Renovo Care is in good hands as it pursues ambitious growth plans. I would like to thank the tremendous efforts of the Renovo Care staff for their dedication and hard work in supporting me in the turnaround and through a tough environment triggered by the pandemic. I would also like to thank Blantyre Capital for backing me and my team in the turnaround. Without the support of the staff and Blantyre, Renovo would not have been able to fulfil its important role over the last two years.” Peter Kinsey said: “Philip has done a fantastic job securing the future of the services and of the facilities through the acquisition by Renovo Care. Renovo Care has exciting plans to expand its services and build on the quality care already offered and I am excited to be joining at such an interesting time and really looking forward to working with the team to achieve the company’s ambitions.”
