Yorkshire food manufacturer aims for £50m turnover as sales increase by 21%

A Yorkshire food manufacturer has announced that its sales have increased by 21 per cent as it aims for £50m turnover.

HECK, which produces meat and meat substitute products, is aiming for £50m turnover in 18 months, with 13 million people buying from the brand last year.

The company has started the year with its rate of sale up by 21 per cent of last year, and has estimated that it has a 60 per cent share of the market.

As it aims to increase turnover, HECK is expanding its vegan range and building a vertical farm to produce leafy vegetables.

It is also increasing marketing activity, having launched a “chocolate sausage” product for Easter and partnering with ITV for advertising.

Jamie Keeble, co-founder of HECK, commented: “We are a family that genuinely cares about food and drink, and know more than anyone else about the dynamics of modern family eating.

“In the trade we have a reputation as a category challenger, a disrupter and an innovator. We have built a tremendously loyal customer base who love us because we are ‘alive’ and real, and this is the driving force behind our market growth.

“We have some serious ambitions and very much see ourselves as the industry David to Goliath, particularly in vegan.

“This business is our life and we’re well on-track to hit our turnover target by 2022. We see some fantastic opportunities for more growth and expansion in the coming years.”
