New West Yorkshire mixed-use community to create over 150 jobs
A new community is set to be created in the Calderdale area of West Yorkshire as plans move forward.
Plans have been submitted for a new mixed-use development in the village of Hipperholme between Halifax and Brighouse.
Situated on the brownfield former Crosslee site, plans for the development include a care home and a McCarthy and Stone retirement village, employment and commercial space, a new supermarket and up to 106 new homes.
Five acres of the site will be dedicated to creating employment space in units ranging in size from 500 sq m to 1,900 sq m. It is expected that at least 120 to 150 jobs will be created by the retirement home and supermarket, with SMEs expected to bring more to the area through the new units.
A spokesperson for Crosslee commented: “Submitting the outline planning application is a major landmark to bring this important site back into use and we were encouraged with the feedback from the consultation process.
“Our vision is to create a vibrant new community that represents a massive investment of over £60m into the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe area, as well as providing modern employment space for local businesses to thrive.”
