£350m riverside ‘urban village’ creates over 1,000 new homes in East London
A new multi-million pound mixed-use development has launched at a riverside location in East London.
Housebuilder Weston Homes has announced the launch of the £350m Abbey Quay scheme in Barking.
Covering six acres, the riverside urban village comprises 1,089 new one, two and three bedroom apartments of mixed tenure, all with their own private balcony or terrace.
In addition, the site features 22,281 sq ft of commercial and leisure space, which is planned to include a new pavilion restaurant, local shops, cafés, gymnasium and community hub.
Bob Weston, chairman & chief executive of Weston Homes, commented: “Abbey Quays is a new waterfront urban village adjacent to Barking Town Centre which brings aspirational and affordable waterfront living to Barking.
“Delivering striking new buildings, riverside public spaces and new retail and commercial facilities, the new community will provide much needed affordable housing for Londoners and complement the existing town centre.”
