Retailer invests £200,000 in new Plymouth store

One of the fastest growing retailers in the UK is well on its way to reaching its target of opening 25 new stores in 2021, with Plymouth now being added to its list of locations.

On Saturday 17th July, Flooring Superstore will open the doors to its newest store on the city’s Marsh Mills Retail Park.

The retailer has invested £200,000 in the 3,400 square feet outlet, which is resulting in the creation of four new sales representative roles for local people. This will be the 13th store Flooring Superstore has launched in the UK since non-essential retail was permitted to resume trading from 12th April and forms part of a plan to open a total of 25 stores in 2021; taking their total store count up to 50 across the UK.

Flooring Superstore Regional Manager, Nathan Pritchard, said: “We are delighted to be able to add Plymouth to the list of our stores in the UK. “It’s a fantastic location for us, providing us with a presence on a thriving retail park and we’re looking forward to introducing our products to shoppers.

“This will be our second store in Devon, having opened an outlet in Newton Abbot in 2019, so we are pleased to once again be able to support the local and regional retail economy.”

So far in 2021, Flooring Superstore has launched stores in Huddersfield, Doncaster, Newcastle, Norwich, Lincoln, Hull, Orpington, Basingstoke, Carlisle, Reading, Catford, and Kidderminster.

This bring the total number of stores it has in the UK to 35 and by the end of the year it is planning to have 50.

Nathan added: “Less than 10 years ago we purely had an online business, so we have a come a long way in such a short space of time.

“We have been able to grow our physical store presence quickly but in the right way due to a number of factors, including offering a one-stop-shop for all types of flooring and doing this at online prices.”

Shoppers visiting Flooring Superstore in Plymouth will have access to a wide range of flooring such as carpets, vinyl, laminate, real wood, luxury vinyl tiles, EvoCore and the UK’s largest selection of artificial grass.

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Flooring Superstore will be reaching out to local charities, voluntary organisations, or other good causes to see if they would benefit from donations of flooring for a particular project.

Nathan said: “We feel it’s important to support the communities which support us by shopping at our stores, so we are looking forward to hearing from those who may benefit in the Plymouth area, whether it’s a charity, school or another organisation.”
