The University of Sunderland digital focus!
As businesses recover from a disruptive period of uncertainty and change, Kathy Clawson, Head of Computer Science Faculty of Technology provides advice on how work-based learning at the University of Sunderland can support businesses to get back on course and look to the future.
’The last 12 months have transformed the ways in which companies do business, accelerated digital workplace adoption, and highlighted the strategic importance of technology. The development of digital and technological competencies is more important than ever.
As we move to a stage of recovery, it is key to evaluate how technology has enhanced your business, and how we can learn from digital and technology success. Keeping a clear perspective and focus on facilitating digital transformation can allow businesses to emerge as experts of change and ensure a strong market position in a competitive landscape.’
The University of Sunderland recognise that technology continues to redefine how we work, live and interact. Learning plays a crucial part in the transformation of change. Kathy highlights the importance of ‘ensuring that educational programmes are developed with a strong industry focus’.
The University has a successful track record of industry engagement and consultation with external stakeholders which was a key factor in the development of level 6 BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Professional and level 7 MSc Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist degree apprenticeships.
To keep up with digital and technological acceleration, the Faculty of Technology equips apprentices with skills and knowledge to find solutions to industry challenges. Our apprenticeships offer stimulating, practical and career-focused digital and technology options, delivered through the comprehensive use of problem-based and work-based learning.
The School and Faculty, which has undergone a period of recent investment, prides itself on being responsive, adaptive, innovative and accessible to all, with supportive staff who our students tell us truly make a difference to their experience at this life changing university. (Image)
